Gallatin Gateway Inn

The day was beautiful, although early on a few dark clouds passed overhead with the threat of rain. Not to be had and the artists went to work on the beautiful grounds of the Inn. Architecture and flowers were most choices and sketching was important.
Not many stayed around for lunch time but all enjoyed the morning.

Workshop with Margaret Huddy

Margaret's view at Lily's Garden

This three-day workshop began on Thursday with Margaret's presentation of her theory of color. We painted at Lillie's Garden on Friday and at Cindy DeBethizy's place on Saturday. The weather was beautiful, Margaret's stories were entertaining, and it seemed that everyone had a good time. MIA "broke even" on the cost of the workshop. My thanks to all who supported my desire to bring Margaret to Montana. A special thanks to Marsha Karle who volunteered to help set up the space on Thursday morning.

A quote from Margaret:

"I really did enjoy meeting your group. They were all so enthusiastic and
non-complaining. I have worked with lots of groups and know that usually
there are a few that complain about the sun and the heat but, of course, I
know that the people of Montana are very sturdy folks so I'm not surprised."

Karen’s Garden

Thankfulness and beauty abounded as the artists arrived and Karen’s home for a morning of painting the gorgeous flowers and unique structures in the gardens. The neighbor offered the artists to paint in his yard as well and many took advantage of the offer. The day was about ten degrees cooler than the last few and the shade was very pleasing to stay in. With so much eye candy to choose from, one would either find their ideal in the first few moments or would wonder quite a while before they could settle on their choice. Many fine drawings and paintings were produced and everyone was relaxed though not without intent on their paintings.
